"Being a nurse I have a medical background, and was always skeptical of any alternative therapy that didn't involve a GP and a script pad. However after many months of vague symptoms including nausea, bloating and fatigue, I found myself doing the rounds of GPs trying to find one that would listen to me for longer than 15 minutes. I found myself taking pill after pill with no relief from my symptoms. My girlfriend had suggested for some time that I see her naturopath, who she swore would listen to me! So finally feeling desperate I made an appointment with Karen, with very little faith that she would be able to help me - no one else had been able to!

Sitting in Karen's room at the clinic I recited my long and convoluted history. What a relief! She was the first person who listened to my whole history (the GPs could only focus on one system at a time). Her knowledge blew me away. As I am a nurse I could see that Karen knew her anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. She explained everything to me including her reasonings. She gave me a plan to follow, as well as a herbal tonic. A month later I was feeling on top of the world! My symptoms had gone!

I found Karen extremely approachable. I lived 2 1/2 hours away, She was willing to treat then follow up with email or phone calls. She would send my tonics via the mail. I always felt that I was her number one concern.  Our loss is your gain!"

Karen is a wonderful naturopath - she is caring, empathetic, knowledgeable and thorough.  Karen's approach is holistic - she addresses both emotional and physical issues and how they impact on one another.  Her use of flower essences reflects this approach.  Seeing Karen over the past five years has had such a huge and positive impact on my health and the way I live my life.  Karen's advice, suggestions and support regarding a range of issues such as diet, pregnancy and dealing with stress have been invaluable, so much so that I can't let her go - I am remaining a client via telephone from Melbourne!

After having our first baby at 40 years of age I we were keen to have a second baby quickly. After two miscarriages which happened early in both pregnancies a friend from my local play group suggested that I see Karen. After a few months of treatment we tried again and two cycles later I was pregnant again. I continued to see Karen and enjoyed a healthy pregnancy and straight forward delivery. We now have a daughter and son. Our daughter has also visited Karen for help with her asthma.  I have recommended Karen to others, some have visited her and experienced great results. At 41 years of age I felt that IVF was not an option for me so to have help in a non-invasive and inexpensive way suited us. We feel that our family is now complete. Also continuing with supplements helps me keep on top of doing everyday activities and breast feeding.

I began seeing Karen in 2003 at Ruth Trickey’s clinic, Melbourne Holistic Health Group.  I was interested in doing preconception care and getting treatment for my PCOS so that I could achieve a healthy pregnancy.  Karen was very sensitive to my needs and very quickly identified and treated other health concerns which I didn’t even know I had.  It was pointed out to me that I had a tendency to get hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) which gave me anxiety and depression.  After adjusting my eating and taking supplements I felt great.  It is a real testament to Karen’s holistic approach that she was able to get at fundamental health problems which were hidden to me.  The eating plan and supplements also helped my PCOS and with the help of herbs I was able to regulate my menstrual cycle and achieve a very normal and healthy pregnancy.  Karen taught me about natural fertility and how to know when I am at my most fertile, so it only took 4 menstrual cycles to get pregnant and I actually knew the exact day that I fell pregnant!  After the birth of my baby daughter Karen cared for my mine and my baby’s health needs.  I attended Karen’s natural medicine course for babies and children, which was great and gave me confidence in my early days of parenting.  I knew that I could phone or email Karen at anytime and she would not mind.  I felt very supported.  Karen has a wealth of knowledge about women’s, children’s and family medicine.  We were very lucky to have her care for us.

Hi Karen
Finally the holiday season is over, and I am sitting down writing a much belated email to you. Thank you for your letters advising that you have left Melbourne Holistic Health Group. I was so sad to receive them and hear that I will no longer see you at MHHG....however, I am delighted for you and your family that are heading on a new adventure! I wonder what part of Queensland you are in?
Karen, thank you for all your wonderful care of me over the years. I've always found you so supportive, professional and respectful, and greatly appreciate all you did for me. You are a very talented health professional, and such a warm and kind woman.
I am now seeing your colleague, Sandra Villella, and am sure you'll be pleased to hear that my health continues to improve.
Thank you again Karen, and all the very best to you and your family.

Warm regards

Dear Karen
Thank you for your advice and care over the past three years.
I appreciated your no nonsense business-like manner that you always displayed, and the level of personal concern you had for my problems.  Your availability by telephone or email from time to time was very comforting, as was the ability of talking over the surgery issues that I plan to undertake this year with Dr Lionel Steinberg. I have taken your recommendation and visited with your colleague, Margaret Morris, in the Fairfield clinic and feel confident in this decision. Thank you for referring me.

Reymond and I trust your move to Queensland proves to be everything you expect and that your new practice will thrive.  I feel sure your patients will receive the same good quality of service that I did.

Kind regards,
